Clip-In vs Permanent Hair Extensions
This is less a question about hair than about how you live. Both options give you the same hair — genuine Remy, colour-matched, cut to blend. The difference is whether it lives on your head or in a drawer, and that decides everything else: cost, care, and what you can do with it.
A note on the word “permanent” first, because it is used loosely. No extension method is permanent. Permanent extensions means the semi-permanent ones — tape, weft, rings and keratin — that stay in for weeks or months at a time and are moved up as your hair grows.
Clip-ins: hair you control completely
A clip-in set is wefts with small pressure clips along the top. You section your hair, clip them in close to the root, let your own hair fall over the top, and take them out before bed. Five minutes each way once you are used to it.
Nothing is attached between wears. No adhesive, no ring, no bond, so there is nothing to grow out, nothing to maintain and nothing that can damage your hair while you sleep. A set that is brushed gently, washed every fifteen to twenty wears and stored flat lasts for years.
No recurring cost. From ₹6,000 for the set, and that is the last time you pay. Over two years this is the least expensive way to have long hair by a wide margin.
The limits are real, though. They come out before you sleep and before you swim. They need enough of your own hair above them to hide the clip line, so very short or very fine hair at the sides can show it. And you have to put them in, which on a Tuesday morning at seven can feel like one task too many.
Permanent methods: hair you forget about
Tape, weft, micro and nano rings and keratin fusion all attach the hair to your own a short distance from the scalp. It stays in through sleep, showers, swimming and the gym. You wake up with it, and you stop thinking about it.
Wear time runs from six to eight weeks for tape and weft, eight to twelve for rings, and three to five months for keratin. At the end of each period the attachment has grown out and needs moving back up. Our guide to how long each method lasts covers the intervals.
Maintenance is the recurring cost. From ₹3,000 a visit on our price list, with the hair reused across fittings for tape, weft and rings. Miss the visit and the grown-out attachment points start to tangle and pull — which is where extension damage actually comes from.
Care is more demanding. Heat kept off the bonds, conditioner kept away from keratin, a loose plait at night, oil kept off tape panels. None of it is hard; all of it is daily.

A wedding, a reception, a run of functions: clip-ins. You want full hair for three days and your own hair the rest of the month. This is what they are for, and it is why our bridal page leads with them.
You are not sure extensions are for you: clip-ins. Wear them for a month. If you find yourself reaching for them every morning, that is your answer, and the set is not wasted — it becomes your occasion hair.
You swim, train, or travel a lot: a permanent method. Rings if you oil your hair or have a sensitive scalp; tape if you want the quickest fitting.
Fine hair that needs volume every day: a permanent method, because clip-ins on fine hair struggle to hide the clips. Nano rings or lightly spaced tape.
You want to forget you have them: keratin. The longest interval and the most undetectable method, at the cost of the longest fitting.
