Hair Extensions for Weddings: Bridal Guide
Wedding hair has a problem that everyday hair does not: it has to look right in daylight photographs, across several functions, on days you will not get back. Extensions solve the length and volume, but they add a planning question — when, which method, and how to make sure the result on the day is the one you saw at the trial. This is the timeline we run brides through at a consultation.

The timeline
Three to four weeks before: consultation and trial. We look at your hair, match the colour in daylight, agree the method and the length, and fit a trial section so you see exactly what the finished look will be. This is also when your makeup artist or hairstylist should be looped in, so the extensions and the styling plan agree.
A few days before the first function: the fitting. Not the day before — you want a day or two to live with the hair, wash it once, and have anything adjusted. Not two weeks before either, because a semi-permanent fitting has grown out a little by then and the styling is easier when the attachments are fresh.
The functions: the hair stays in for tape or weft, and is restyled each day by your stylist. Clip-ins go in for each event and come out after.
After the last function: removal, or a move-up if you are keeping the hair. Book it before the wedding so it is not forgotten in the aftermath. Our bridal page sets this out as a booking sequence.
Which method for a wedding
Several functions over several days: tape or weft
A muhurtham, a reception and a party across three or four days is the common Chennai shape, and it is where semi-permanent wins. Tape or weft stays in throughout, survives the heat and the flowers, and takes a different style every day without being refitted. Your stylist works with hair that is already there.
One event: clip-ins
For a single reception or an engagement, a clip-in set gives the length and volume for the day with nothing attached afterwards, and it keeps its use for every occasion after. From ₹6,000, and the set is yours.
You want to keep the hair after the wedding: any semi-permanent method
Many brides do. If the wedding is the start of wearing extensions rather than a one-off, choose the method for your hair and your routine — rings if you oil, tape if you want the quickest fitting, keratin if you want the longest interval — and the wedding is simply the first fitting. The trial: what it is for
Colour, first. Wedding photographs are taken in daylight and under flash, and a shade that matches under salon lights can read warmer or cooler in both. We match in daylight and, if your hair has natural variation, blend two shades. Length and volume, second: you see the amount on your own head and adjust before the real fitting. Texture, third: wavy or curly hair needs extension hair that matches or can be styled to match. And the style itself — if your hairstylist can attend the trial, or you can send them the result, the day goes more smoothly.
The flowers, the pins and the heat
Chennai weddings are hard on hair: hours under flowers and pins, in heat, often outdoors. Semi-permanent attachments cope with all of it — pins go into your own hair and the extension hair alike, and tape and rings are unaffected by sweat. Two cautions. Do not let anyone pin directly through a tape panel or onto a ring; your stylist should know where the attachments are, which is another reason for the trial. And keep hairspray and oil-based products off the attachment points, particularly for tape.
What it costs
A bridal fitting is quoted the same way as any other — by the grams, the length and the grade — and bridal starts from ₹8,000 on our price list. The trial is part of the consultation, which is free. Removal or move-up after the wedding is from ₹2,000 and ₹3,000 respectively. If you are choosing between a cheaper set and a better one for a wedding, choose the better one: this is the one occasion where the hair has to be right in photographs you will keep.
