When to come
The best time is before the first session of treatment, while your own colour, texture, cut and hairline are there to match; the result is far closer to you. If that has passed, bring photographs — recent, in daylight, from the front and the side — and we work from them. During treatment, come when you feel able. Appointments are kept short, you can stop and rest, and a home or hospital visit can be arranged when coming in is too much.
What is usually fitted
For most people a full wig with a soft, seam-free cap and nothing attached to the skin. A silicone-lined cap grips a smooth scalp on its own; a lace front gives a natural hairline. We set the hair density lighter than an everyday wig, because a full-density piece feels heavy and hot when you are unwell, and lighter looks more like your own hair anyway. For loss from burns or surgery, a partial piece is integrated around the scar and clipped to the surrounding hair or held with a light tape made for skin.
Comfort and privacy
Nothing goes on skin that is healing or tender. Fittings happen in a private room with no photographs unless you ask for them, and you can bring whoever you want with you. If you would rather not sit in a reception area at all, say so when booking and we will arrange it.
When your hair comes back
Most people wear the piece until their own hair is presentable again, and stop. As it returns we cut your own hair in around the piece, thin the piece down, and help with the in-between weeks. The consultation is free, and because the piece is chosen for the person rather than from a list, the price is quoted before anything is ordered.
