Living with alopecia — what we can do
Alopecia takes different forms: areata leaves coin-sized patches, totalis takes the scalp, universalis takes body hair too. What suits you depends on which one you are dealing with, how much hair remains, and how stable it is right now.
We are a cosmetic studio, not a medical one. We cannot treat alopecia or stop it progressing — that is your dermatologist's work. What we can do is give you hair that looks and feels like yours while you deal with the rest, attached in a way that puts no strain on a scalp that may already be sensitive.
Which cover suits which kind of loss
Patches (areata)
For one or two coin-sized patches with healthy hair around them, a small cover piece clips into the surrounding hair and is cut to blend, and it can be moved or resized as patches change. Where patches come and go, a topper or half-piece that covers the whole region is often easier to live with than chasing each new one. If there is not enough hair around a patch to clip into, we use a light tape made for skin or a silicone-lined band rather than a strong adhesive, and we skip attachment altogether on skin that is inflamed.
Total loss (totalis and universalis)
A full wig or a full-cap system. The base is the decision that matters most: it has to be breathable in Chennai heat, and a silicone-lined cap grips a smooth scalp without any adhesive at all. A lace front gives a natural hairline you can wear off the face. We keep the hair density realistic for your age, because an over-full wig is the one thing that reads as a wig from across a room.
Children
A parent stays in the room, and the first visit is only about looking and touching, with nothing decided. Caps are cut smaller and lighter, sized with growth in mind, and re-fitted as the child grows. There is no charge for that first visit.

Alopecia is not always stable, so nothing we fit assumes it will be. A clip cover can be resized, a cap can be re-lined, and we ask what your dermatologist has said about stability before recommending anything that feels permanent. The consultation is private and unhurried, and the price is quoted for the specific piece before it is ordered.
