Who micro and nano rings suit — and who they don’t
Rings are the gentlest attachment we fit, and the only one that involves no adhesive, no heat and no chemistry of any kind. A small ring is closed around a section of your hair together with the extension strand, and that is the whole mechanism. For sensitive scalps, for anyone who has reacted to adhesives before, and for hair too fine to hide a tape panel, this is usually the right answer — a nano ring is small enough to disappear in hair where nothing else will.
The cost of that gentleness is time. Fitting is strand by strand, so a full head takes longer than tape or weft, and rings need to be checked and moved up more often than a bonded method. It is a slower, more finicky process by nature.
Rings suit fine hair, but they do not suit hair that is actively breaking. A ring holds by compression, and compression on brittle hair is still load. If we see active shedding rather than naturally fine hair, we will say so and suggest you get the shedding looked at first — there is more on that on our extensions for thin hair page.
Maintenance is every eight to twelve weeks, and it is genuinely just an adjustment: the rings are opened, slid back up to the root and closed again. Nothing is replaced, nothing is dissolved, and the same hair carries on. Over two or three years that makes rings one of the more economical methods, despite the longer first fitting.
Nano bead, micro bead, ring: the same attachment
Nano bead extensions, nano ring extensions and nano tip extensions are one method: a strand of extension hair with a tiny tip, threaded through a small ring — or bead — with a section of your own hair, then clamped flat. Micro bead and micro ring are the same again at a larger size. Suppliers name them differently; the tool and the technique are identical.
